Smith Island is best known for its sand-bar that links it to Ross Island in the low tide, allowing the two to seamlessly appear as one single island. The long stretch of beach on the eastern shore has white powder sand and extremely shallow crystal clear turquoise and aqua marine waters stretching a few hundred meters into the ocean at most spots.
