Architects Vasant and Revathy Kamath conceptualised twelve Shikar Ghars of about 900 sq.ft. each as villas for guests. Rather than attempting to rebuild a misunderstood grandeur of bygone days, an attempt has been made to integrate the property into the existing environs using indigenous material and techniques of construction including mud and stone. The style and the interiors were completed by designers; Sarthak Sengupta and Sahil Bagga who introduced the Zero Kilometer Design concept whereby all furniture and products were inspired through an understanding of local products used and produced locally. Therefore a conscious effort was made to draw out the unexplored nuances of the local culture. The Mardana and Zanana heritage sections have books, music and other comfortable sitting arrangements where guests are welcome to lounge during mealtimes or otherwise: there is no conventional demarcated dining area or fixed menu system. The location looks up at the lit-up Fatehgarh fort and is reached by Bullock cart. Guests may also dine on a float in our private lake with a similar ambiance. |
